Mammila: If we play like this, a win will come

Chippa United head coach Morgan Mammila says the team will get their first win if they continue to play the way they have been in the opening four matches.

Chippa managed to frustrate both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates to draws, but fell short against the defending DStv Premiership champions.

Mammila says they were all over the Brazilians in the first stanza and the only difference between them is that Rulani Mokwena's charges are more clinical.

"Ja, one thing for sure we gave it our all, credit to my boys, I think they played according to instructions, we wanted Sundowns not to dominate from the first five, ten minutes and we did that," Mammila told SuperSport TV.

"They could not even combine four, five passes together because we were all over them and as I said we're not that defensive team, we press from the top.

"And I said before the match that the only difference (is that) Sundowns are clinical and us, it's my job as a coach to make sure that my players pass the back of the net. It's a work in progress, we arrive there in the box, goalkeeper (Ronwen Williams) makes the save," he said.

"Ronaldo one-on-one with the keeper, it's a goal, good save from the keeper. Chabalala, Mulenga one-on-one with the keeper two goals. They (Sundowns) could not create so many chances and lack of concentration, two crosses, two goals," he went on.

"It wasn't that bad but one thing for sure we gave it (our) all, we can build from here. If we play like this we'll win more matches and lose less."

The former Baroka CEO continued and bemoaned his lack of striking options and said they will win more matches that they will lose if they continue to play the way they have been playing.

"As I said, you can see that my striker just came in now, he's not yet fit, I gave him 20 minutes to see if he can give us something. Credit to Ronaldo he played well but there were moments where he should have taken one or two but we can build from here," he said.

"You can see we're playing, it's just a matter of that win, it will come, if we play like this a win will come."

The Chilli Boys will travel to Cape Town Spurs in their next encounter.
