Michael Jackson’s estate has granted Epic Records access to the music icon’s archives spanning four decades of audio recordings and will release a new album titled XSCAPE scheduled for the 13th of May.
XSCAPE is executive produced by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid who curated the final list of recordings delivered to the producers enlisted for the project. The album’s lead producer, Timbaland was one of a handful of producers Reid believed had the gravitas, depth and range to creatively engage with Jackson’s work adding a fresh, contemporary sound while retaining its musical essence. Additional producers include global hitmakers Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome “Jroc” Harmon and John McClain.
According to Reid, “Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world. Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”
The project features eight new tracks, which the world will hear for the very first time on the new album. A Deluxe Edition including all of the sourced Michael Jackson recordings in their original form will also be available.
Both the XSCAPE standard and Deluxe Edition’s are available for pre-order right now on iTunes.com/MichaelJackson as well as other digital platforms.
