Next club for 'indebted' Manqoba revealed?

With two PSL clubs having parted ways with their coaches recently, former Mamelodi Sundowns tactician Manqoba Mngqithi has hinted where his future could lie.

Richards Bay FC are yet to appoint a permanent coach after they let Brandon Truter depart two weeks ago, with previous assistant coaches Ronnie Gabriel and Sboniso Gumede in caretaker charge.

Golden Arrows have also recently been rocked by the alleged resignation of Mabhudi Khenyeza, with the club confirming on Tuesday that he "has been absent from work for a week" and that Musa Bilankulu and Kagisho Dikgacoi have been tasked to lead the team for now.

After Mngqithi was relieved of his duties at Chloorkop on Wednesday, his next move is anticipated to come from the above-mentioned teams, should he return to active management immediately.

Interestingly, both are from KwaZulu-Natal, the place he calls home.

The 53-year-old old revealed he's open to listen to offers but admitted he has a soft spot for one club in particular.

"Any club that makes an approach, you listen and you hear what they say. If the project is interesting and you see they know what they want, then you look at it very closely," Mngqithi said in an interview on 947's MSW.

"But I will always be open to assisting Golden Arrows in my life. I still feel indebted to the club because they made me the person that I am. They gave me an opportunity at a time when no team in South Africa would take that risk. When a team is number 16 on the log and they only have 12 points after 15 matches and they say we want Manqoba to become the coach, not even an interim coach...

"That confidence is something I will forever be indebted to because nobody would give away [a] R50 million status to a coach that had not coached in the PSL. I had been an assistant for probably one-and-a-half year and they gave me that opportunity," he added.

Mngqithi did not deny that talks are taking place with Abafana Bes'thende behind the scenes and admitted that his phone has not stopped ringing since he checked out of c/o Allandale and Dunlop Road in Tshwane.
