Cape Town City stars beach trip inspires MTN8 win

Cape Town City ran riot over Swallows in the MTN8 second-leg semi-final, and we wonder how some of their stars' recent trip to the beach could have boosted their confidence heading into their 4-0 win.

A couple of City stars decided to spend their day on the beach this previous weekend, in what seems to be a good bonding session, more especially after seeing their performance against Swallows on Wednesday.

Edmilson Dove, Terrence Mashego, Khanyisa Mayo, and Nathan Safika, among others, took to Clifton Beach to enjoy some refreshing Spring weather, and relax ahead of a crucial week.

While the region's weather can become a little unpredictable at times, the atmosphere seemed perfect on that occasion as the group was all in beach mode flexing their fitness levels.

The mini-outing seemed to have had a good effect on Mashego and Dove, as they got an assist and a goal respectively, guiding their side to a comfortable performance.

Mashego's good form of late has seen him also earn a call-up in Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana side, which is set to take on Ethiopia in two crucial 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in the coming week.

Meanwhile, their match against DStv Premiership giants Mamelodi Sundowns in the final will be Dove's second shot at claiming yet another MTN8 title after having won it in the 2018/19 season.

After all, the top-eight tournament has been one that has evaded Masandawana for well over a decade, and we can jokingly say that maybe another trip to the beach can inspire a final triumph for the Mother City side.

Your thoughts, please?

Between Sundowns and City, who do you think will come out victorious?
