Itumeleng Khune flexes new physique

Itumeleng Khune has seemingly been doing the hard yards in the gym, and his newest body reveal shows that the veteran keeper might just be in one of the best shapes of his career in a while.

Injuries are part of the game, and as one would expect from contact sports, athletes tend to experience physical setbacks that usually keep them on the sidelines. A solid recovery plan is essential and it involves hours and hours of exercise and physiotherapy to get yourself in the best condition to return to fully competing at the desired levels after recovery.

What has been evident is that the Bafana Bafana shot-stopper has been working really hard to maintain his excellent physical condition over the past couple of weeks. On his social media, Khune has been seen consistently doing home workouts in his backyard and the results are now for everyone to see.

The 34-year-old has had his fair share of injuries throughout his career, with the most notable one being a shoulder injury back in 2018, which saw him miss 27 games. While his injury record is not that long, Khune has had several spells on the sidelines due to knee, ankle, and groin injuries amongst others.

The Amakhosi star has certainly improved his body, and many of the club's supporters can be hopeful that the Ventersdorp-born goalie has that agility he is known for, which has also produced match-winning performances on multiple occasions over his career.

Khune recently equaled 'Ace' Ntsoelengoe's record of playing the most seasons as a Kaizer Chiefs player, and with his contract renewal, the skipper will be looking to regain his spot ahead of both Bruce Bvuma and Daniel Akpeyi, who have both been providing the necessary competition for that number one spot.

Your thoughts, please?

Who should Chiefs' number one goalkeeper be this season?
