Top agent responds to 'agenda against Chiefs' talk

Following accusations by Kaizer Chiefs supporters that agent Mike Makaab does not favour them with the best players in his stable, the experienced intermediary has responded.

Makaab caused big anticipation after suggesting he had offered Chiefs a striker, without revealing his identity.

Speculation then spread like wildfire that the player in question could be Togolese marksman Yawo Agbagno, who plays for Algerian side ASO Chlef, following his links with Amakhosi.

The ex-Orlando Pirates coach subsequently revealed that the Soweto giants rejected a striker that, in his opinion, "is the best on the African continent".

However, the club's fans did not seem convinced Makaab recommended a quality striker to Chiefs, claiming he always takes the cream of the crop in his agency to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Makaab has indicated that's not true, as he gave Chiefs first preference on Andile Jali after he left Belgian club KV Oostende in 2018, for example.

"And let me add, Sibusiso Vilakazi from Bidvest Wits offered to Chiefs. Sipho Mbule from SuperSport United offered to Chiefs," Makaab said on Gagasi FM.

"I cannot force any football club to sign a player."

The Glamour Boys are in the shop window for a go-to man for goals after netting a disappointing 25 goals in 30 league matches last season.

This means they scored an average of 0.8 games per game in the Premiership, a major reason why they finished 10th.

Chiefs' signings for forward positions so far leave much to be desired, with only 33-year-old Gaston Sirino as a noteworthy acquisition.

The Khosi Nation was left wondering if they are going to endure another average season, especially up front, after a 4-0 defeat to Young Africans in the Toyota Cup pre-season tournament.

After seemingly being unable to acquire Fiston Mayele from Pyramids, the club is reportedly in contention with Rulani Mokwena's Wydad Casablanca for Yanga forward Clement Mzize, who joined them whilst they were coached by Nasreddine Nabi.
