Kaizer Chiefs legend Zebulon Nhlapo says it is time they open their chequebook and sign players who match the club's stature.
Nhlapo believes a team of the stature and standing of Amakhosi should buy players and not rely on promoting youngsters from development.
The club still have not replaced their former coach Molefi Ntseki, who was let go in October 2023 following a poor run of results.

"These boys should play. Kaizer Chiefs must buy quality players because what is happening to them is starting to be painful to us now," Nhlapo tells KickOff.
"We need experienced players who will get there and fight for the jersey because the current players are not fighting for the jersey. They have lost direction. We can't be building every season. Kaizer Chiefs is a big team, they need to buy big players. Big clubs don't build players, they buy them," he continues.
Nhlapo adds that once a player joins the Glamour Boys, he needs to hit the ground running.
"You should be ready and know your story. You come here to deliver. If you still need to be built, then stay with our development structures, it means you are not ready."
Asked where exactly things are going haywire for the Soweto giants, Nhlapo cannot put his finger on it.
"I don't know what has gone wrong, you know. We need to sign midfielders and strikers. We need strikers! They don't make them like Siyabonga Nomvete, Collins Mbesuma, and Pollen Ndlanya anymore. Those are the type of strikers we need.
"Christian Saile is a good player, but will he ever reach his full potential? Maybe they are playing well in training and come matchday, they fail. But let's give him more chance.
"Ranga Chivaviro is on and off. With him, you can't tell what is what. Sometimes he is performing well and the next minute you hardly see him.

"But let's hope Kaizer Chiefs will open the checkbook and buy players. We need people who will play for the badge. The current team is not playing for the badge, to be honest.
"Let's hope they will come back a better team next season. We are always with them."
