Another problem at Chiefs…

Molefi Ntseki might have already been shown the exit at Kaizer Chiefs after a slow start but there is yet another issue derailing AmaKhosi.

With 13 games played by Chiefs to date this season both their new signings upfront have yet to score despite a combined 550 minutes of game time with the two also having failed to score in the last five months.

The pair of Ranga Chivaviro and Efmamjjasond Gonzalez have both failed to justify why they were signed having both fired blanks up to this stage.

Instead of solving the scoring problem, Gonzalez has held hands with Chivaviro in worsening the issues for Chiefs who chose to offload Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana despite his goal return of eight in 21 appearances.

On the contrary, at this stage last season, Bimenyimama had scored six goals in six games.

For all the criticism that the Burundian got about his style of play he was still able to personally contribute just under a quarter of all the goals scored by the club last season.

Chivaviro – a journeyman forward who has spent most of his career in the first division but flourished at Marumo Gallants last season – has led the theme of struggles upfront.

The 30-year-old has been handed eights appearances totalling 320 minutes but has nothing to show for his efforts.

Zero goals and zero assists.

For a man who was signed because of the 17 goals he slammed at Marumo last term, this has been a horrendous start which is threatening to turn his season into a damp squib.

Chivaviro last scored five months ago against Young Africans while still at Marumo.

Behind Chivaviro's shoulders is Gonzalez.

How Chiefs came to be convinced that the 24-year-old was worth of all the trouble of bringing on board all the way from South America remains a mystery.

Jasond Gonzalez has had a frustrating start to his

The Colombian has had five appearances accounting for 230 minutes and hasn't been convincing at all.

Gonzalez has looked clumsy than he is classy and stretching back to the end of his time at his previous club Real Santa Cruz in Bolivia has now failed to score in 15 matches.

Chiefs' number 14 last scored six months ago.

Some have already labelled him a flop.

Chivaviro and Gonzalez can still argue that they deserve the benefit of doubt considering that only a third of the season has been played but their numbers are not inspiring at all.
