Secret behind Sekgota's Chiefs rise revealed

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has revealed some of the key factors behind Kgaogelo Sekgota's emergence as a first-team regular this season.

Having predominantly been used as a super-sub during Kaizer Chiefs' 2021/22 campaign, Kgaogelo Sekgota has emerged as one the club's key players this season and has started in nine of his 11 appearances to date.

The 25-year-old is yet to open his goalscoring account but has proven to be a key attacking outlet for the Amakhosi with his pace and skill on the ball proving to be a difficult combination for opposition defences to handle.

"I think Sekgota has improved tremendously," head coach Arthur Zwane said following Chiefs' 3-1 win over Stellenbosch FC. "I am so happy for him and very, very proud of him. Why he is improving is because he is coachable.

"He's one player who is always wanting to learn new things, he wants to know, 'Coach, am I doing the right thing?' These are the type of players that you need feed with the information slowly, because if you overload him then he might end up being confused.

"But as you can see in his game, he is improving in each and every match and he's one of our key players this season. Last season he was more of an impact player, but when you look at him now, he can play 90 minutes.

"The last time we were here, he played 90 minutes plus extra time, and we are happy to see him doing well because we become unpredictable when we have such players on the field."
