Best possible line-up for Nabi at Chiefs this season?

Kaizer Chiefs' return from their pre-season camp in Europe will provide insight to the preparation work that Nasreddine Nabi has been doing ahead of the new season.

Nabi took over earlier this month and joined the squad at their base in Turkey, where he has had bonding sessions that have helped him familiarise with the squad.

That Nabi will have eyes flooding him is without doubt, especially considering that he has adopted a club going through their longest barren spell ever.

Chiefs have won nothing for nine years and will not want to have the count reaching double figures at the end of the upcoming season.

The positive results that will be demanded from the Tunisian-Belgian by an expectant Chiefs fan base will be determined by how he sets his stall on the field.

Between the posts, the fact that the club paid a transfer fee for Fiacre Ntwari will mean the Burundian international will be favoured to play ahead of Brandon Petersen, Bruce Bvuma and Bontle Molefe.

Then in defence, Reeve Frosler should have the edge at right-back with Given Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe as the twin central pairing, with another new signing Rushwin Dortley slotting in at left-back.

Dortley has arrived with Bongani Sam and Edmilson Dove injured, so should quickly get into the groove.

The midfield will be led by Yusuf Maart in the centre along either Samkelo Zwane or Edson Castillo, with Pule Mmodi and Mduduzi Shabalala further up.

As a team expected to attack and dominate opponents, then Ranga Chivaviro, who scored four goals in a recent pre-season friendly, should be paired with Ashley Du Preez.

There will be plenty options on the bench to improve the team depending on what happens on the field.

Nabi must play his best team to quickly win the hearts of the frustrated Amakhosi fans, who have become accustomed to a barrage of disappointments.
