CAR ACCIDENT: Chiefs star out for 3 months

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that a midfielder has been ruled out of action for three months having underwent surgery after being involved in a car accident.

Amakhosi have provided an update in their injury list featuring four players who remained in South Africa as the first team prepares for the new season in Turkey before the start of the season.

Topping the list is Mduduzi Mdantsane, who has been confirmed now out of action for up to three months after undergoing surgery on his jaw following a car accident.

"He [Mdantsane] had surgery and, if all goes well, is expected back in 3 months' time," said David Milner, the club's physiotherapist told the club's website.

Other injury updates include that of Lehlohonolo George Matlou, who last featured for Chiefs in November 2023.

"George is only expected back in October following his knee surgery. However, I am happy to report that he is in the gym and doing some light running," Milner added.

Matlou was given a fresh one-year deal as his initial contract with Chiefs came to an end in June. Like Matlou, Tebogo Potsane did not play a part in the second half of the season at Chiefs, playing his last game in December 2023.

"Tebogo's recovery from groin surgery is progressing well and he is expected to be back in training in about two weeks," added Milner.

Meanwhile, Solomon's injury came towards the end of the season and is expected to keep him out of action for just over two months.

"Dillon had shoulder surgery, so he won't be ready for roughly another nine weeks, although he has started running and rehabilitation."

Chiefs will return to South African soil towards the end of July with a clash against Young Africans on 28 July in the Toyota Cup.
