Since KickOff reported last week that Kaizer Chiefs and Nasreddine Nabi had opened talks, the club has seemingly stepped up their efforts to land the highly-rated coach.
Ideally, a club in a situation such as that of the Glamour Boys, who finished the season under the leadership of an interim coach in Cavin Johnson, would want to appoint a permanent coach as soon as possible, so that players know what awaits them when they report for pre-season.

However, for Nabi, there is still the small matter of finishing the season with his current club AS FAR in Morocco.
They trail Josef Zinnbauer's Raja Casablanca by a point going into the last round of fixtures for the campaign, having led the standings for pretty much the whole of 2023/24 up until last weekend.
It has since been reported in local media, after our story last Friday, that Chiefs are so serious about landing their target Kaizer Motaung Snr himself is leading the negotiations from the club's side. This may well be a concerted effort by the Soweto giants that what happened this time last year, where talks between the two parties collapsed, does not repeat itself.
According to sources, the parties have agreed a deal in principle. It is now a matter of ironing out a few matters before the Tunisian officially puts pen to paper.
You can expect Nabi to sign on the dotted line in the coming weeks, unless the two parties yet again fail to find each other in their advanced negotiations like it happened last time.

A lot of coaches have been linked with the job since sporting director Kaizer Junior confirmed at Luke Fleurs' memorial that Johnson would not be kept as senior team coach and that the structure of the technical team will be different from next season.
