Vilakazi is believed to have been promoted to senior team following an impressive season with Amakhosi reserves that the 18-year-old capped off with a stand-out performance in the Carling All-Stars XI vs Stellenbosch match, where Vilakazi also scored a free-kick.

The teenager was already training with the first team prior to the match and it is believed he is set to continue, following in the footsteps of Mduduzi Shabalala, Samkelo Zwane and Wandile Duba who have all recently come through the club's development ranks.

Speaking to media at the Nedbank Cup last 32 draw on Thursday evening, Chiefs centre-back Thatayaone Ditlhokwe h=gave his verdict of Vilakazi so far.

"The same ability that made him identified by the same first team, is the same ability he is showing.

"But remember now it's a different environment, same talent but different environment. It's abut working on his character, working hard. Tat's all we can say because in terms of talent, in terms of ability, he is a top player.

"Its about us giving him ability so that he can step into the next level that he wishes to see himself."
