Kaizer Chiefs' Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has provided an update on ongoing talks between the club and veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, whose future has become a subject of interest since the pages of the calendar turned to 1 July.
Khune is out of contract, but information reaching KickOff is that the shot-stopper still remains determined to continue wearing the gloves.
At the opposite end of the table, the club's hierarchy is understood to also still be resolute in their stance of having offered the 37-year-old his last playing contract at Amakhosi and are understood to have lined up a non-playing role for him.

These were sentiments echoed by sporting director Motaung Jr when he answered questions from journalists about the situation at the launch of the side's home and away kits for the 2024/25 season.
"I think as time goes on, we will be able to divulge more information," Motaung Jr hinted.
"From the start of the season with Itu, we sat down and spoke, I think we related a stamen. As far as his playing contract, we have assessed everything.
"We have sat down with Itu and we see him playing a very, very valuable role within this situation. I mean, he has contributed tremendously to this institution. He is a living legend.
"I think he has a lot to offer, whether it's academy players, senior players... various roles, so I think as time goes on, we will be able to divulge what the next step is with Itu.
"But he is very much a very important part of this family, this organisation and this team.
"So, ja, as the weeks go, we will be able to release some more information about that direction.
"But yes, when a person has achieved what he has with one club, he is the fabric and the cloth of this team, so I think we are privileged to have someone like him in this team, especially at this important time."
