Chiefs star promises Sundowns scalp

Kaizer Chiefs striker Wandile Duba has made a bold promise to the Khosi Nation, whose hearts are skipping a few beats ahead of the Nedbank Cup semi-final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Amakhosi are among the last four teams left standing in the Nedbank Cup and will looking to end a 10-year trophy drought. Standing in their path, however, is a Sundowns side as equally desperate to win the trophy that has eluded them for the last two seasons.

Having won all three of their encounters against Chiefs so far this season, The Brazilians would be justified in being confident of inflicting more pain on the Naturena-based side en route to the final.

However, Duba, who marked his return to action with a goal last weekend, has promised that not only will the Soweto giants defeat Miguel Cardoso's men, but they can go all the way to win the title.

"We wanted to win against TS Galaxy to get confidence because we know that we're playing against the biggest team next week," Duba said on SuperSport TV.

"So, I think even a draw will give us the confidence we're looking for in the next game. I know we've been telling fans that we're building, and I'm sure they're getting tired, but the process is coming up slowly, and we promise to deliver the Nedbank Cup."

Going into the encounter, the former DStv Diski Challenge star will hope to have fully recovered from a knee injury, having worn a strap around his knee during Saturday's match at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Amakhosi will also be sweating on the recovery of key midfield anchor Thabo Cele.
