Chiefs’ all-weather survivor keeps moving on

Reeve Frosler has earned so much of his worth at Kaizer Chiefs that he is now the only survivor of the reshuffled defence.

Frosler has been on the pitch for all three games under Nasreddine Nabi so far this season, standing out as the only non-new signing in a back four featuring Inacio Miguel, Rushwin Dortley and Bradley Cross, plus Fiacre Ntwari in goals.

Last season, the 26-year-old was Molefi Ntseki's preferred man at right-back playing in all but two matches under the former Bafana Bafana gaffer.

Even when Cavin Johnson took over on an interim basis, Frosler was always in the team whenever available.

Then, from the season in which Arthur Zwane was given the chance to take charge, it was the same case with a count of 24 appearances.

Frosler delivered the same way under Stuart Baxter in the 2021/22 season when the veteran mentor returned for his second spell at the club.

In his reunion campaign with Gavin Hunt – who he had played under at Bidvest Wits – it was 34 appearances, though he missed another 15.

A season earlier (2019/20), Frosler stood his ground again under Ernst Middendorp, playing 26 games as Chiefs let the title slip through their fingers on the last day.

This was his first full season at Naturena having arrived from Wits in January 2019 when his competition came from Kgotso Moleko and Ramahlwe Mphahlele.

Chiefs now have Zitha Kwinika and Dillan Solomons as the other alternatives to Frosler – who has another contract-related chapter to settle at the club before the end of the year.

Whatever becomes of the percentage increase for his next deal, it will have been deserved having put in the work throughout the time he has been reporting at Lena Road.
