Nabi’s turnaround count at Chiefs

Nasreddine Nabi will spend the latest FIFA international break with ample time to reflect on his time at Kaizer Chiefs after clocking three months on Monday.

Nabi inherited a ravaged dressing room dealing with the consequences of failing to merely finish in the Top Eight after Cavin Johnson's reign took the club from bad to worse.

Where it was a mess, the Tunisian-Belgian has rolled up his sleeves, dipped his hands and given hope to the long-suffering Amakhosi fans.

Chiefs' three games to date have been played in sold-out venues at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, Moses Mabhida in Durban and FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, providing the evidence of how much interest there is in what Nabi is doing.

Though there was defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns in the third game after two wins, there is no doubting that the Soweto giants have looked revitalized in the new season.

The bell is ringing three months today from the day Nabi arrived at the club's pre-season camp in Turkey.

Chiefs were in Turkey from July 4, with Nabi joining a few days later, and has been ever present since then as he deals with the task of finding solutions to the issues that have contributed to the club heading into their 10th season without winning silverware.

"If the fans love Kaizer Chiefs, they automatically love Nabi," said the head coach recently upon being asked about the fan interest in what he is doing at the club.

"I want to give respect to all the coaches that have worked with Kaizer Chiefs, sometimes a coach has the success and sometimes he doesn't.

"This is football.

"From my side, I don't have to prove anything to anyone.

"Maybe the fans look at my personality in that I'm honest and have big passion and so they appreciate that personality.

"Maybe they know me from Tanzania and Morocco, but I'm an honest man, and I'm serious, and have big passion and big opportunity to receive this big club.

"I have an objective with this club," says Nabi.

He has been consistent with his selections with new signings Fiacre Ntwari, Inacio Miguel, Rushwin Dortley, Bradley Cross and Gaston Sirino starting all three games to date.
