Ntseki wants Chiefs to improve after stalemate

New Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki says his charges need to improve tactically following their goalless draw against Chippa United.

Chiefs had a couple of chances in the first stanza but struggled to break Chippa in the second stanza despite dominating possession and had to settle for a share of the spoils, in Ntseki's first game in charge.

Ntseki commended the team for keeping a clean-sheet but says tactically they can do better, in so far as breaking down their opponent.

"It's unfortunate we didn't score but I think if you look at the different moments of the game, being the first game we did well, except for giving the ball away cheaply, which almost hurt us," Ntseki told SuperSport TV.

"But I think without conceding the goal, the boys did very well, they applied themselves, we can't fault the effort they had to put but tactically speaking we can do better.

"I think we spoke about it at halftime that it's important to take shots at goals because we can't break a deep block with those short passes, what is important is how do we add numbers. What type of crosses do you put in and I think it's something we'll be working on," he said.

New signing, midfielder Edson Castillo had another impressive showing after he showed glimpses of brilliance in pre-season matches and the former Bafana Bafana coach says Castillo possesses a high level of tactical management and they are still looking for a best partner for him in midfield.

"Since his arrival I think he has been doing very well, if you look at how he manages the game, I think it's a very high level of tactical management of the game and I think with the combinations we're working on, with him and (Samkelo) Zwane," Ntseki said.

"With him and (Yusuf) Maart, with him and (Siyethemba) Sithebe, something will come out and we're looking forward to a positive contribution that he's going to make to the club," he added.
