In this edition of My First Pay, KickOff catches up with former Kaizer Chiefs striker David Zulu who reveals details of his first received salary at Black Leopards.
Who you signed for…
"Black Leopards, remember I was part of the group that got Leopards promoted.
"They were my first professional team around the 2010/11 season. The new generation had the likes of Edgar Manaka, Raymond Monama, and Tiyani Mabunda where I was signed from Pimville Young Stars.
"I was earning R10 000 in the top tier division. That's what they offered after we gained promotion.
"In the NFD I was earning R3 500. I had a day job then at a certain plant where we produced spices and some other products."

How I celebrated?
"I did celebrate the fact that finally I was now getting paid for doing what I love. I already had a car, so the only thing I was searching for was an opportunity in football. After getting the opportunity I dropped everything else and focused on football."

What I bought with it…
"I went to the mall in Louis Trichardt and bought myself some sweet stuff, I've got a sweet tooth. I'm counting milkshakes, chocolates, and other soft stuff. I don't smoke cigarettes I don't drink alcohol. I'm just into sweet stuff."

Did it last you the full month?
"I won't say it lasted, it's just that back then the expenses were not so much. I was staying at the clubhouse and not paying rent.
"There was nothing much to do in the area where we were staying in terms of entertainment anyway, I guess that's why we used to give teams a good hiding."
