Nabi gives insight into Chiefs' plans for January

With three months still to go, Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has shed some insight into their plans for the January transfer window.

Although Chiefs had a somewhat busy transfer window, with the arrival of seven new players, an all-new technical team including the head coach, they seem unsatisfied with their business and are therefore aiming to strengthen further.

This was confirmed by Nabi, who opened up on the search for a striker while speaking at the post-match press conference after his side lost 2-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns recently.

"I think my striker[Ranga Chivaviro] today and last game, he scored, okay but the level we want is higher.

"I agree with you [that Chiefs still need a striker]. Honestly, the market in Africa is very, very short. You have maybe three, four or five good players, but all the clubs in Africa take them, like Esperance, Al Ahly, Zamalek. The market in Africa is not positive at this moment," Nabi explained.

"If I feel under pressure and just sign, then I don't respect the responsibility I have. Look, in the month of October we won't play, [international break], we have November and December. Then, on the 1st of January, the window will open.

"So, I have two or three months to seriously scout for the quality I need and thank you to the owners and committee (club management) for giving me an open budget for that, but I don't want to waste the money during the window."

Chiefs currently only have Ranga Chivaviro as a traditional number nine and the former Gallants striker has scored twice in three matches so far.

Amakhosi return to league action on 26 October.
