Nasreddine Nabi will become the latest Kaizer Chiefs coach to make his entrance in the Soweto Derby, joining a list which had the late Walter da Silva getting a whipping in November 1996.
After absorbing the atmosphere which defines the Soweto Derby, Nabi will get down to the business of the day on the field.

When Chiefs played their first ever PSL era derby on November 2, 1996, in the BOB Save Super Bowl semi-finals, they had Walter da Silva as head coach in a match they lost 4-1 at the old FNB Stadium.
Next to lead Amakhosi was Wellington Manyathi, who ran the rule for the 1-1 draw in May 1997 with Mark Williams scoring.
Paul Dolezar then came in and had his first on November 22 that same year with Williams on target again in another 1-1 result.
Two years later, Muhsin Ertugral came in and lost his first ever derby 1-0 on November 20, 1999, with Dennis Lota on target for Bucs.
Then, for Ted Dumitru, his first was a 1-0 win in December 2003 with Kabamba Musasa dancing his way to joy, scoring the goal which made the difference on the day.

Ernst Middendorp's first stint as head coach at Chiefs was a 2-0 win in October 2005, while Kosta Papic's only ever derby as coach of the side ended in a 1-1 draw in April 2007 during his short stay.
Ertugral's second stint started with that famous 2-2 draw played in Durban on November 24, 2007, played in front of FIFA delegates when Mabhudi Khenyeza scored within seconds, before Excellent Walaza's brace was then levelled by Arthur Zwane.
Vladimir Vermezovic's derby debut was a goalless draw in October 2009, while Stuart Baxter's first spell – which came with the success of four trophies and keeps him as the last coach to deliver a trophy at the club – came with a 1-1 draw in his first derby back in December 2012.
Steve Komphela then lost his first derby 3-1 in October 2015, just like Giovanni Solinas (2-1 in October 2018), and Gavin Hunt (3-0 on October 31, 2020).

In between Solinas and Hunt, it was Middendorp starting his second spell with a 1-1 draw in February 2019.
After that, there were wins for Baxter in his second spell (2-1 in November 2021) and Arthur Zwane (1-0 in October 2022).
Nabi's predecessor – Cavin Johnson – suffered a 1-0 defeat in his first derby (November 11, 2023).
