Nabi: We know that the team is progressing

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi insists the team is 'progressing' despite the 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.

According to the mentor, his charges did enough to salvage a draw and also had a fair share of control of the match particularly during the second period.

It was the Amakhosi's eight league defeat of the season and leave their position in the top-half firmly in the balance at the present moment.

"It's true that it's a game that's going to live with some regrets because we feel that we had done enough to create some problems for the opponent," Nabi told SABC Sport.

"Created opportunities, we even had more control of the game in the second half, but you know it's football and, in the end, you have to score and we believe that we deserved even a tie given the performance that we had.

"But this is football and we know that we have lost the points today. We have to go back and push ourselves and encourage our players for the next game."

The current league standings have the Amakhosi languishing in eight spot, narrowly in the top eight bracket as Nabi believes it's just temporary and they will finish higher up.

"It's true that every time we lost it doesn't matter the performance we had when you lose a game. But what we need to take from this game it's the performance of the team," Nabi said.

"The tactical understanding of the team and improvement of players during the season. We know that the standings where we are on the log doesn't reflect the performance we have been having.

"But the standings is a temporary thing that's why where we are going to finish the season higher up. We are working hard and we know that the team is progressing and sometime going through good moments, bad moments but we know that the process of building, everything and we need to know the results are there to take us higher up the table."
