Kaizer Chiefs supporters, for the longest time, held their hopes that the club would engage Pitso Mosimane for their head coach position after he became available last month, and now he has discussed the difficulty of taking over the revival project at Naturena.
It became immediately clear that Mosimane would be back in the coaching market after he missed out on avoiding relegation with Abha Club on the last matchday in the Saudi Pro League in May.
Chiefs had already conceded that they are looking for a permanent head coach and were open to making structural changes in their technical team just after the AFCON break following struggles under interim coach Cavin Johnson.

Although they were initially linked with various foreign coaches such as Alexandre Santos, Raul Caneda and the likes, the club's supporters hoped the Glamour Boys management would seize the big opportunity to engage Mosimane to take over their revival project.
After he returned to the country, the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns mentor made it clear that he has not been approached by the Chiefs hierarchy.
He has now discussed what it would have taken for the two parties to come to an agreement.
"It's an exciting project I must tell you, but it's a difficult project in terms of understanding turnaround times. It's not about qualifying for Top Eight and you win Top Eight and then you say you've turned the corner, no. It must be a good project. I mean, teams are going to the Club World Cup, receiving a billion rand there. Football in Africa has changed," Mosimane said on Metro FM Sports.
The three-time CAF Champions League winner was asked if money would have been an issue and he rebuffed the idea, although he suggested that a significant investment on the playing personnel would have been needed.
"It's not all about the money, it's about the project, understanding turnaround times, how long can it take. It was not easy to turn around Mamelodi Sundowns hey. When I arrived, we couldn't even qualify for Top Eight. I then dismantled the team," he continued.
"We're talking Kaizer Chiefs, do you know the history of Kaizer Chiefs? They've always had the best players ever. We're not talking about a Maritzburg United to turn around things, we're talking about Chiefs. The best players played for Chiefs. You can't win games if you don't have good players.

"How does Manchester City turn around things, because Pep Guardiola is a magician? He's got [Erling] Haaland and all these top players. Also, with me at Sundowns to turn it around, we had [good] players and look what has happened. They kept buying good players, hence Rulani [Mokwena] is on top of his game," the 59-year-old added.
As reported by KickOff, Chiefs have a deal in principle to appoint Nasreddine Nabi as their new head coach.
