Former SuperSport United striker Prince is currently tearing it up at a top African League with five goals in just four appearances so far. As such, in this week's Blast From The Past, we take a closer look at how the Zimbabwean has transformed into a lethal goal machine since leaving the DStv Premiership.
The story
It has been over four years since the now 26-year-old left Matsatsantsa after spending just two years in the South African topflight. Injuries blighted his short-lived career in Mzansi and it is believed that this has been an unfortunate trend that has persisted since he departed from the PSL.
With that said, it wasn't all doom and gloom for the centre-forward in SA, as his only piece of silverware came in the 2017/18 campaign after he won the MTN with the Tshwane outfit.
He has since spent the last four seasons on the books of Azam FC, who currently top the Tanzanian Premier League with nine wins from their first 12 games. According to Zimbabwean outlet, Soccer24, Dube received a whopping US$40 000 (R738k) as a sign on bonus when joined the club, while his salary at the time was said to be US$3 000 (R55k) per month.

It is reported that another benefit of his transfer was a two-bedroomed fully furnished apartment during his stay in Dar es Salaam. His agent at the time, George Deda, said that the player was now living more comfortably than he was when he was in South Africa. "He is very much comfortable than 99 percent of players playing in South Africa. The boy is very happy," Deda said.
Indeed, the signs that he is living soft are there. The 12-capped Zim marksman appears to have devoted his life to being a loving and God-fearing family man. He tied the knot with his wife Jocelyn Thando Dube in 2021 and the couple has two beautiful children. Jocelyn also graduated with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Journalism and Media Studies two years ago, an impressive feat that makes them one of the power couples of the Ligi kuu Bara (Tanzanian league).
Now nicknamed the Smiling Killer, Dube has been a great signing for Azam, as he has 32 goals league in 30 appearances for the club to date, according to FootyStats. His impressive output has already made him a cult hero, with the player admitting that some of the taxis in the country had placards of him when he had just joined.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup dream
Dube featured during the recent World Cup qualifiers in November, although he did not manage to score in the two games against Rwanda and Nigeria. Zim are winless in their first two games in Group C, where they will also face the likes of Bafana Bafana, Lesotho, and Benin. Qualifying for the showpiece would be a historic achievement for his nation, as they are one of the CAF men's national teams who have never qualified for the World Cup.
Did you know?
Dube's middle name is Mpumelelo, which means success.
