With teenage sensation Shandre Campell having recently joined Club Brugge's reserve side Club NXT, we take a look at how previous South Africans like Elrio van Heerden have fared at the Belgian club.
The story
According to Transfermarkt, Campbell is now the third South African to be on the books of Brugge after former Bafana Bafana defender Van Heerden and Tau.
On Wednesday, the 18-year-old was announced as a new recruit for Club NXT, there reserve team of Brugge, ending his time with boyhood outfit SuperSport United.

The move has been met with great excitement, as the teenager played 30 games in his debut campaign with Matsatsantsa, registering five goals and six assists to help the Pretoria outfit to a top-half finish in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership.
How have other South Africans performed at Brugge?
Van Heerden
The Gqeberha-born former star joined Brugge in January 2006 from Danish giants Copenhagen in a deal worth €1.5 million (R29 million).
The now 41-year-old spent three-and-a-half-seasons at the club and made 67 appearances, the most he has made for any of the club he has represented in Europe. Van Heerden also managed to achieve some silverware, as he won the 2007 Belgian Cup.
Speaking of Campbell's jump to Brugge, Van Heerden told Supersport: "I had some of my best years playing at Brugge. It is a very family-orientated club with good connections between the supporters and the players.
"They are very good people, I enjoyed myself. I still think of it as like home and it was a very good experience for me."
Percy Tau
Tau spent just one season on the books of Brugge, where he registered four goals and eight assists in 30 matches before his loan stint from Brighton Hove Albion ended back in the 2019/20 campaign.
Most notably he won the Belgian Pro League title that season and made his UEFA Champions League debut against Real Madrid, as per Transfermarkt.
