Veteran defender Eric Mathoho still finds himself in the football wilderness after choosing to not take up the opportunities presented to him by other clubs.

"Tower" was released by Kaizer Chiefs in May after 11 years at the club, earning himself 34 Bafana Bafana caps in that period.

Mathoho was a six-figure earner at Amakhosi in the last two contracts he signed, but now finds himself at a crossroads, after turning down an offer from TS Galaxy due to financial reasons.

Unfortunately for Mathoho, at 33, it's nearly impossible for him to find a club that will offer him the money he earned for most of his time at the Glamour Boys.

There's been mention of Mathoho joining JDR Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, which will ideally keep him in Gauteng.

Here's how the readers reacted to the "Mathoho's financial quandary post Chiefs exit" story:

"Mr Mathoho, half a loaf is better than nothing. Plus considering your age, even 2/4 or 1/4 of your past salary should be fine. Unless maybe you cooking something behind closed doors," says noxymanyana201.

"Can't Sekhukhune sign him? or Swallows because that Kwanda Mngonyama is a cow," says truthngezana1.

"Ay, he should accept the JDR offer considering his age," says CCTV4.

"Kaizer Chiefs destroyed Eric Mathoho's career. Kaizer Chiefs destroyed Khama Billiat's career," says De GreaT.

"It's confirmed this one was sent to early retirement by Mutizwa, the next one will be the Chiefs goalkeeper," says Sthende.

"A talent destroyed by his former team," says GrootmankaBrian.

"Nothing lasts forever, when you reach 30, you should have a plan in motion already, teach the upcoming generation that," says Charles Manyike.

"It is sad to see how a football career can end at a certain stage of a man's life. It is advisable that when a player is in good faith at a current club, to respect and be polite because difficult times might strike.

"One player to be advised is Romeo, he still has a future beyond his current contract," says lombosngoepe.

"Romeo is toothless. He will score only 3 goals for the whole season and think he is a STAR. The only time you see Romeo is vs the mighty Downs or Chiefs," replies truthngezana1.

Thabiso Monyane emerged as match winner for the Buccaneers, rescuing his team deep in the second half of their DStv Premiership clash against Sekhukhune United on Tuesday evening at the Orlando Stadium.

The Soweto giants faced a stubborn Sekhukhune side as they desperately went in search of a victory after crashing out of the Carling Knockout Cup last week.

The narrow 1-0 victory for the Buccaneers to catapult the Soweto giants from 13th place into ninth position, with Monyane's well-worked goal saving Jose Riveiro side's blushes, as they found themselves in a four-match winless run in all competitions before kick-off.

The Buccaneers can now turn their attention to the highly anticipated clash against Chiefs in the upcoming Soweto Derby match this Saturday at the FNB Stadium.

Here's how the fans reacted to the "Pirates end four-game winless run" story:

"Maswanganyi is the weakest link in the Bucs system. He wastes so many balls and good attacking moves, always passes sideways or backwards, and always holds the ball for too long. He has too many touches on the ball which kills the momentum of the attack," says melore66 who added:
