Bafana tickets for CT showdown 'cheaper than a Gatsby'

Cape Town seems to be pulling out all of the stops for Bafana Bafana who will host South Sudan next week, with ticket prices "cheaper than a gatsby".

Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport of the Western Cape, Ricardo Mackenzie was speaking earlier this week, as the city and SAFA Cape Town gear up for the national team's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the DHL Stadium next week.

Sitting next to SAFA vice-president Bennett Bailey and former South African star Farouk Abrahams, Mackenzie expressed the joy that Cape Town is feeling after not having hosted the national team in such a long time.

"It's been so many years, and I think all of us get asked 'wanne' [when]? Did SAFA forget about us in Cape Town?" he said.

"It's not just  one of our first big events in soccer, but it's also our last qualifier for AFCON 2025," the politician went on to add.

"And we must, must win that game. We have to win it because Cape Town needs to showcase what we do for soccer. We've made massive contributions for soccer in South Africa."

Mackenzie went on to encourage all those in the city to go out and purchase their tickets to ensure they do not miss out on the spectacle.

"we need everyone to go out and buy some tickets. "We need to fill up Cape Town Stadium. Bafana Bafana deserves to play in front of a full stadium in front of Cape Town."

He went on to emphasise the price of tickets for the encounter, pointing out its affordability.

"So you can afford to buy a ticket, it's 60 rand and 30 rand  respectively.

"So let's fill up cages at the Cape Town Stadium. It's going to be a lot of fun, guys. A lot of ghees.

"We know we always bring the ghees to Cape Town. And we deserve to show Bafana Bafana our love and fill up Cape Town Stadium."

"The responsibility is now on us. Sixty rand is two beers. The responsibility is on us. It's cheaper than a Gatsby.  It's cheaper than a Gatsby. The responsibility is on us," he said.
