Magesi head coach Clinton Larsen says he has no problem with his team being the underdog in every Betway Premiership match this season.
Magesi appeared to be on cause to cause another upset against another Soweto giants after they raced to a two-goal lead courtesy of Wonderboy Makhubo and Edmore Chirambadare.
However, a late brace by Amakhosi midfielder Mduduzo Shabalala saw the sides share the spoils.
"Firstly I've got to credit my players, three games in seven days, we played on Sunday, we got back on Monday morning at 5 O'clock. Kaizer Chiefs played on Saturday, rested Sunday, Monday, Tuesday [Chiefs remained in Polokwane after loss to SuperSport United]. That's the difference in terms of how fresh they were," Larsen said on SuperSport TV.
"And that's why we wanted to push for early goals because we knew the legs would go in the end and we've done just that. I can live with the way we conceded the first goal. But the second is a defensive error, individual errors, we can't blame the team for that
"After all is said and done, nobody expects us to get these types of results, we played Pirates and Chiefs within ten days and to beat Pirates and draw with Kaizer Chiefs, I think credit must go to Magesi as a football club," Larsen said.
"We've done the hard work to earn the three points and were let down by one individual mistake at the end, that's part of football. Players make mistakes, it's difficult to accept when you're so close to three points
"Coming into this game we played five games and we had only scored one, so it was important for us to start scoring goals and most importantly, we want to be resolute defensively and not concede soft goals like we've done today."
After knocking the Buccaneers out in the Carling Knockout, Dikwena will be up against TS Galaxy in the round of 16 on Sunday.
"Another game where we're the underdogs. Every single team we play against Magesi are the underdogs and we thrive on that tag," Larsen added.
"We're gonna go to Galaxy as the underdogs and fight like we know we can and hope it's good enough to see us through to the semis."
