Magesi star on Pirates: They have better players than us

Magesi FC striker Rhulani Manzini has responded to the section of the South African football fraternity that are not giving them a chance against Orlando Pirates in the Carling Knockout on Saturday.

The DStv Premiership new boys have a mammoth task facing a red-hot Pirates side at Orlando Stadium, but Manzini believes the underdogs will hold their own against the Soweto giants.

"We are well prepared as a team. The preparations for tomorrow's encounter went very well," says the big striker.

"We expect a tough game. Orlando Pirates is a bigger team, though on the field of play it's 11 v 11.

"We are just going to give our all, knowing very well that anything is possible in football. This is a cup game, so anything is possible. There is always a chance of an upset. We do have the quality to cause an upset.

"Player for player, Pirates has more quality than us, but everything is about hard work and effort. "Whoever is going to want it the most tomorrow is the one who is going to succeed, that's all.

"As for the rest, we will see when we get there, as we are looking to compete in every cup game we get to play in," Manzini adds.

The extra motivation for Jose Riveiro's men is the fact the final will be contested at Orlando, their fortress, with the draw for the quarterfinals taking place on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
