Cardoso sends warning to Chiefs?

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso appears to have sent a warning to Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the Nedbank Cup semi-finals encounter.

Chiefs will be hoping Sundowns have fitness concerns regarding key players after a demanding CAF Champions League quarter-final against Esperance on Tuesday .

And not only that, with The Brazilians scheduled to play  Al Ahly next Friday in the Champions League semi-final, the Soweto giants will also be hopeful that their opponents will prioritize the big clash and rest some of their best players this weekend.

However, judging from Cardoso's tone on what to expect from his team, given these continental fixture circumstances, the Portuguese could well field his best team.

"Being a coach at Sundowns helps because there is performance context permanently. Everybody will be thinking only and mainly on the Nedbank Cup match, no one will be thinking about whatever will happen after," Cardoso told journalists in a Nedbank Cup pre-match press conference.

"I have a total conscience that the way you do things day by day will always influence what will be ahead and I want to have, over the weekend, a positive influence on what we have to do ahead.

"It means that we need to play to win. It's not a normal match, it's a match that will put one team out of the competition, that (will) bring the best out of our players and from the Chiefs side," Cardoso said.

"So, we need to take ourselves to the top, understand the strategy to adopt, how to approach the game, how we can overcome the difficulties we will face, take a look at what we have done the previous time," he added.
