'Zwane does not make eye contact with anybody'

Following suggestions that Jayden Adams has been signed to replace Themba Zwane at Mamelodi Sundowns, legend Hlompho Kekana has shot down the comparisons.

Since his acquisition in January from Stellenbosch FC, Adams has made an immediate impression with three goals for Sundowns and has already broken into the regular line-up.

The arrival of the 23-year-old at Chloorkop coincided with the injury of Zwane, who is yet to feature since late September.

With 'Mshishi' at the twilight of his career at 35, there have been suggestions Adams could walk in the footsteps of the ma who has already reached legendary status.

However, former Masandawana midfield grafter and captain Kekana still believes it's an injustice to make such comparisons.

"If you want to speak about the man who knows the moment, it's Themba Zwane. He's not structured. He's not a PlayStation thing, he's different. We'll never have another player like Themba," Kekana said on TimesLIVE Video YouTube Channel.

"When we were under pressure when I was still his teammate, we will say: 'Give Themba the ball', and we'll have a breather. How he used to take the pressure off us we don't know. No matter what the space, pass Themba the ball, he will deal with it. How, we don't know.

"He's one player who does not make eye contact with anybody, so that tells you [that] you need to be very awake and smart for you to deal with him.

"If I could ask you what position is Themba playing, you'll never figure him out. He is special to South African football, I hate it when I start hearing conversations comparing him," Kekana emphasized.

The Tembisa-born veteran's contract expires at the end of June after he was given only one-year extension last year.
