Former Sundowns star seeking Al Ahly exit

Mozambican attacking midfielder Luis Miquissone is seeking a permanent solution to the challenges that have frozen his career over the past season.

Miquissone was signed by Sundowns in 2018 but had little joy before moving to further unsuccessful spells at Chippa United and Royal Eagles but then blossomed at Simba SC in Tanzania before winning a move to Al Ahly two years ago.

In Egypt, Miquissone scored five goals in his first season but was then signed on loan by Saudi club Abha at the beginning of the 2022/23 season while Sven Vandenbroeck was coach.

However, when the Belgian was sacked after just three months in charge it then became dark for the Mozambican.

From the four appearances that Miquissone made under Vandenbroeck he then found himself not even making the match-day squad and was only on the bench once since then.

Vandenbroeck had previously worked with Miquissone in Tanzania and recommended his signing to Abha.

With the frustration of not even making the match-day squad under Mateusz Laiczak and Roel Coumans, Miquissone then packed up before the end of the season and headed back home to Mozambique.

The 27-year-old has been training with his former club UD Songo for the past two months and is now due to head back to Egypt for talks on the way forward.

KickOff can disclose that while his former club Simba are interested the intention is to continue in the Middle East with one Saudi second-tier league club keen to bring him on board.

Miquissone still has a running contract with Al Ahly and is not keen on another loan move as he prefers a permanent switch if the Egyptians have no intention to retain him.
