Cardoso laments 'stupid goal' after second-place finsih

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso says they paid the price for not taking care of small margins after a 1-1 draw against AS FAR Rabat.

Sundowns scored early through Peter Shalulile and for the majority of the game looked like they would secure maximum points and top their group.

However, Amine Zouhzouh netted the equaliser for the Moroccan outfit in the dying minutes, as they ultimately topped the group, ahead of the Brazilians, who finished second.

Cardoso stressed that the goal they conceded is a reminder that there are small margins of errors in the CAF Champions League.

"Bitter sensation since we arrived here, this was a tough group from the very beginning, the situation was not comfortable, arriving here, going through from the group stages is obviously an accompaniment," Cardoso said on SABC Sport.

"Obviously when you're winning the game, 20 minutes to finish, in total control of the game, you don't expect to get a draw, you expect to finish the game and win.

"It's a little bit of a stupid goal the one we suffered and in the end of course they will get first position.

"But let's speak about what we're gonna do in the next moment, let's wait for the draw and see what will happen."
