Downs legend: Pirates are performing better than us

Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Sipho Ndzuzo is unhappy with the team's recent performances, both in domestic and continental competitions.

Ndzuzo places the blame on the club's sporting director, Flemming Berg.

"Things are not convincing. Sundowns is not performing well right now, and it's concerning. I'm worried about how we will fare in the FIFA Club World Cup," points out the former midfield grafter.

"I wish we still had Rulani [Mokwena], Manqoba [Mngqithi], and Pitso [Mosimane] in the same technical team. Sundowns could have been at their best heading into the Club World Cup.

"But now we are losing confidence in the team. I'm not sure we can make a mark there under the current coach.

"The same players are still here, yet we are not performing at our best. Right now, we're all admiring what Orlando Pirates is doing.

"Considering the salaries Sundowns pays its players, we shouldn't even be comparing ourselves to Pirates. It doesn't make sense why they are currently performing better than us.

"This situation is going to reflect on the Sundowns sporting director. Is he the right person for the job?," quizzes Ndzuzo, known for speaking his mind.

Ndzuzo says the Tshwane giants are losing the culture and identity that they are known for.

"Why are we shifting to something that is not visually impressive? Watching Sundowns these days, you can sense that something is not right; it's as if we are out of sync. We are not singing together as a choir.

"It doesn't look like we are heading in the right direction. In the past two years, we have changed coaches too many times."
