Themba Zwane’s return to action at Mamelodi Sundowns has edged closer after completing the full length of his estimated time on the sidelines.
The veteran midfielder ruptured his Achilles tendon on October 15 last year while on Bafana Bafana duty and was given an estimation of four to six months out.

He will now have completed six months on Tuesday.
His return will come with what will count as his least productive campaign since his return from a season-long loan at Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Zwane had only played five matches for Sundowns when he got injured and will not come anywhere close to his appearance numbers from the last decade.
Throughout the last decade, he has played 41, 36, 42, 34, 41, 39, 40, 38, 39, and 29 (2014/15 season), but with only a third of the league season, plus at least two in the CAF Champions League and three at the Club World Cup left, he will not even reach half those numbers.
Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has noted that Zwane – who has been back on the field for several weeks – is closer to his return as he has been training.

There is a strong possibility that he will be used before the end of April.
The Tshwane giants have the crucial two legs in the CAF Champions League semi-finals against Al Ahly over the next 10 days.
