Abubeker Nasir has earned himself a recall to the Ethiopian national team despite having not played official football at his club – Mamelodi Sundowns – since last year.
Nasir has been a subject of confusion about his future after Rulani Mokwena pointed out that the Ethiopian was no longer a Sundowns player.

This was earlier this year while Mokwena was still the head coach at the club.
However, it was then established that Nasir remains at The Brazilians, with his contract still running, though it appears he might be loaned out this season.
Nasir has had a difficult stay at Chloorkop playing 14 games in his first season before dropping to three in the first half of last season, which then led to him being de-registered, with his foreign spot taken by Argentine Matias Esquivel.
Matters relating to who Sundowns will register as their five foreign players this season remain unresolved.
In the meanwhile, while Nasir hasn't played competitive football since December, he has been recalled to the Ethiopian national team.

The lanky forward last played for the national team two years ago.
National team coach Gebremdhin Haile has included Nasir for the two Group H AFCON qualifiers against Tanzania and DR Congo.

Twenty-eight players have been named in the squad by Haile.
The Ethiopians will play Tanzania on September 4 and then DR Congo five days later, with both matches being played in Dar es Salaam.
