‘Future generations will look up to Mshishi’

Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane has been labelled as a generational talent that will be looked up for decades to come.

Arguments have lingered about Zwane's greatness as he keeps moving at top speed despite nearing his 35th birthday.

Zwane was signed by Sundowns in January 2011 from the amateur ranks and has been forever present in the league since then then meaning he has now played in the PSL for just about half the years that it has been in existence.

Beyond being a consistent performer, Mshishi has delivered the skills, assists, and goals in abundance through about 400 appearances that he made for Sundowns.

For 10 years in a row, he has won silverware at Sundowns from the African Football League, CAF Champions League, CAF Super Cup, Nedbank Cup, MTN8, Telkom Konckout and piled up league titles. 

Sixteen is his count of silverware with the Brazilians and just last month added a bronze medal from the AFCON.

"Listen to me here, Themba Zwane is not just a good player but one that will be looked up to for generations to come," says yesteryear Sundowns superstar Roger Feutmba who is also considered a great.

"There are a lot of players that have played football but there not a lot of players that will be looked up to by generations to come.

"The future players will all find a perfect example in Mshishi if they need someone to look up to.

"Trust me when I say future generations will look up to Mshishi.

"He is a great player who has shown commitment to the game by remaining disciplined with his lifestyle.

"If you must talk about great players that have come from this country or played here then Themba Zwane is definitely up there.

"His achievements are second to none in South African football, so you must give him a round of applause for that.

"Playing overseas is good but cannot be the benchmark because there are so many players who went overseas but didn't achieve or earn what Themba Zwane has.

"In terms of achievements, he has done it in a huge way and will inspire generations to come.

"I like that he is an inspiration that will drive the younger ones to do like him.

"The truth is that we don't know when next there will be a player who enjoys as much success as him.

"It is not guaranteed and might take generations and generations.

"This is a player who is committed in terms of his lifestyle so that is why I insist he is someone to be looked up to.
