Maritzburg United star issues apology following Chiefs defeat

Maritzburg United defender Travis Graham has issued an apology to the club and supporters following his dismissal during The Blue Army's' loss to Kaizer Chiefs.

The Team of Choice were forced to play a man-down just 37 minutes into the Last 32 Nedbank Cup fixture when Graham got his second yellow card of the game following a dangerous tackle on Chiefs' Mduduzi Shabalala.

United held on for the 90 minutes but could not contain an advantaged Amakhosi side who broke the deadlock in extra time through Ashely Du Preez, before Christian Saile put the final nail on the coffin with a second.

Graham took to social media to offer a heartfelt apology for his part, just moments after the defeat.

"I would like to apologise to the club, coaches, teammates and the blue army supporters for my actions tonight. I take full responsibility for letting us down tonight. Sorry," Graham wrote.

United will be without Graham as they turn their attention to the DStv Premiership with an away trip to Orlandp Pirates coming. The Team of Choice is at the tail end of the log table and winless in their last two outings.
