Gallants coach: We didn't want to park the bus

Marumo Gallants FC coach Abdeslam Ouaddou says they never thought about parking the bus against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday afternoon.

The Amakhosi were in the lead in the tenth minute after a stunner from Glodly Lilepo, but were pegged back by Matome Mathiane before Daniel Msendami found the winner.

Ouaddou hailed the bravery of his charges against the Amakhosi and believes the mission to get the team out of the relegation zone is now complete and targets a top eight finish.

“I think it’s a big win for us, I told you we will come here not to park the bus but with the ambition to take three points, we did it,” Ouaddou told SuperSport TV.

“Today, I have a thought for my players that were very brave since the beginning since two months it was not easy. I have thought for our fans, I have thought for my chairman as well so I think we can say you can see the result.

“I think you can say that the mission is over, but now we have to be more ambitious and maybe we can see the eight, nine, seventh place if we can reach it and to finish well this season,” he added.

The coach was upset when they went behind so early in the game and believes teams score too easily against them as the win moved them level on points with the Amakhosi.

“Of course, we were disappointed in the way we conceded the goal. I have the feeling that the teams are scoring very easy against us especially in the last four games but it shows that our players have a big character, have a big personality to come back in a game like that with all the fans in front of a big club like that it shows that we have resources,” Ouaddou said.

A long break now awaits Bahlabane Ba Ntwa whose next encounter will be on the May 17th against Chippa United and backed to collect six points from the remaining two matches and finished the season on a high.

“I think I will give some rest to my players because I think they deserve it afterwards we will come back to the work because we still have two games six points and we have to play the game until the end because like I said to the players at the beginning ‘guys you don’t deserve to be in that position’ (relegation zone) and they showed it so they have to finish and show they real value in the PSL,” Ouaddou said.
