Former Stellenbosch FC midfielder Nhlanhla Mgaga's attempts to free himself from his 'free agent' status have fallen flat after Marumo Gallants decided against signing him.
This means the club search continues for the man who parted ways with Stellies at the end of last season.

The 28-year-old midfielder was initially set to join Magesi FC, but the two parties could not agree on financial terms.
Mgaga was also linked with a move to AmaZulu FC but instead resurfacing at Gallants.
According to a source close to Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, the club has now turned its attention to signing former Orlando Pirates midfielder Xola Mlambo, who was last on the books of TS Galaxy.
"Mgaga was supposed to sign with Marumo Gallants, but things changed after the arrival of coach Dan Malesela. The club is now assessing Xola Mlambo with the possibility of signing him," said the source.
Meanwhile, the Premiership returnees have also decided against signing defender Sipho Sibiya.

Sibiya is among the players the club retained after buying Moroka Swallows' elite division status.
Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Ian Makaringe and Thabang Maponya are among the players still without teams after being discarded by the Bloemfontein-based outfit.
