Free State Stars ready to sell Ghanaian striker Daniel Gozar

Management of a GladAfrica Championship team has advised their head coach not to plan with a top striker they are planning to sell to a PSL team.

Ghanaian goal-poacher Daniel Gozar has netted 11 times for Free State Stars this season since arriving in August last year.

According to Ea Lla Koto coach Themba Sithole, the former Ashanti Gold and Dreams FC forward is said to have attracted interest from a number of Absa Premiership clubs.

"Gozar has got one more year and we are going to extend for another season now," Sithole tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"But there is a lot of interest from the PSL. So I was told not to plan on Gozar for next season. I don't know the teams, I was not told the teams, but I was told not to put full plans on Gozar because he is scoring and the PSL they don't have those type of strikers.

"I don't know who spoke to [Stars general manager] Rantsi [Mokoena] but he told me not to plan with Gozar. He is a good striker just... but he's got one more season.

"I'm sure knowing my people there is no way we can keep him with one season on his contract... I'm sure they are going to exercise the option and give him another year if nobody comes up with money.

"But what I heard is that there are people interested. It's just that when your bosses tell you there are people interested in a player, you don't care who is interested as long as they make money."

Sithole still has ambitions of taking Stars back into the Absa Premiership if the season restarts.

"We are just waiting for the league to restart, finish up the six games and see if we can sneak into the playoffs," he adds.

"But according to the directors they are already planning for next season. We have to make sure next season we go back to the PSL.

"But me, I see the opportunity now because we are five points behind number three on the log so we still have an opportunity, especially looking at the games we are going to play because I don't have any tough opposition. So we can still sneak into the playoffs position.
