Lebese, who has been retained for next season by Colorado Springs Switchbacks in the United States second tier, was spotted training with TS Sporting last week.
"Lebese was with the team last week, he only trained once and left so it's unclear what happened," a source reveals to snl24.com/kickoff.
The GladAfrica Championship refused to give more information on the former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star's presence at the club.
"Please revert to Mr George Lebese regarding question one and two, thank you," read a text response from Sporting chairman Slungu Thobela.
Lebese's phone was on voicemail and he could not be reached for comment.
The 31-year-old's last spell in the country was an unhappy time with Sundowns after leaving Amakhosi, and he was even loaned out to SuperSport United and struggled to impress.
However, his move to USA opened a new chapter in his career and he has performed well in the USL Championship, even winning the 2020 Goal of the Year award.
Nevertheless, it is believed he would be open to returning to the PSL if the right offer comes in.
