Jomo Sono reacts to Jomo Cosmos' great GladAfrica Championship NFD start

Well known for fighting relegation over the past few years, Cosmos have surprised many people this season as they currently sit second on the NFD table.

Ezenkosi are tied on 15 points with log leaders JDR Stars after eight matches, with both sides managing four wins so far this season.

Sono says what happened to Kaizer Chiefs last season in the Absa Premiership proved that it is not over until all the games have been played.

"Aah it's still too early, we don't want to comment," Sono tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"It's still very early my friend, very early, hence we don't want to comment. It's still early, still early, those that are below us, it's only two points, one point between us and them.

"We can lose one game and they win we will drop down, so we don't want to start blowing the trumpet over nothing.

"Give us the first round and then second round we can talk. I don't want to talk when I don't know what's going to happen you know, we are just taking each game as it comes. The nature of football is it can change tomorrow.

"Kaizer Chiefs were winning the league until the 99th minute, they lost the league. So that is football. We can never be sure with football, so give us a chance until the first round.

"We must not put unnecessary pressure on ourselves because it's a young team we've got. Nothing has changed. We are still doing the same things."

Sono admits that the likes of Moeketsi Sekola and Ayanda Gcaba have added much-needed experience to the team.

"They are adding experience you know because that little experience, it's helping us a lot," he concludes.

Cosmos host ninth-placed Royal AM on Saturday while Stars take on bottom-of-the-table Cape Town Spurs, who have just parted ways with Vladislav Heric.
