Junior Awono set for Sekhukhune United transfer

Owono was last on the books of Stellenbosch FC, where he had to make way for the arrival of Nathan Sinkala at the end of 2019.

The midfield enforcer has been training with Sekhukhune at their base in Johannesburg, with snl24.com/kickoff sources indicating he has made enough of an impression to be brought on board.

He was named the best player at Stellenbosch on their way to promotion but game-time became limited for him in the PSL, which eventually forced him to leave.

Prior to moving to South Africa, he had played at the CHAN finals in Morocco.

Sekhukhune, who bought the NFD franchise of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, are keen to win outright promotion to the DStv Premiership and currently sit top of the GladAfrica Championship standings after nine games.

The club already has Morgan Gould, Jabu Maluleke, Tapuwa Kapini and Sibusiso Mbonani in their books.
