Cape Town Spurs 1-2 Black Leopards
Cape Town Spurs winless run of form in the Motsepe Foundation Championship continued and suffered a 2-1 loss to Black Leopards on Sunday.
The boys of Ernst Middendorp are now on a five-match winless run, as Lidoda Duvha on the other hand remain in touching distance with the front-runners and are now in second-place.
Lidoda Duvha were in the lead at the break, but with the Urban Warriors showing resistance afterwards the men from the Limpopo province prevailed and claimed maximum points.
Leruma United 1-4 Kruger United
Leruma United suffered yet another disappointing defeat and dropped into the relegation zone following a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Kruger United.
The latter claimed back-to-back wins to move into ninth-place and were dominant from the start against Leruma – taking the lead at the break.
Further misery befell the boys from Tshwane as Kruger grabbed full control of proceedings and ended up with the maximum points.
Durban City 0-1 University of Pretoria
Durban City lost further ground with the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship in a 1-0 loss to the University of Pretoria on Friday.
Yet another loss leave the Team of Choice who are now five points behind the leaders as AmaTuks surged up towards the top-half and bounce back from their slow start to the season.
No team were on target in the first half of this encounter before Luke Daniels popped up after the interval and netted the decisive strike to give AmaTuks maximum points.
Highbury FC 1-0 Hungry Lions
Highbury FC made it back-to-back wins to move away from the bottom-tier bracket after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hungry Lions.
The new boys who have had a tough start to life in the second tier were victorious last Friday too at the expense of JDR Stars, which happened to be their maiden win of the campaign.
Lions experienced the exact opposite with yet another defeat in as many matches and are languishing outside the top eight as Matome Mabeba separated the two.
JDR Stars 1-0 Pretoria Callies
JDR Stars got back to winning ways after last weekend's disappointment and moved into second spot following a 1-0 victory over Pretoria Callies in Soshanguve.
The maximum points aided the Hammerboys to remain in the top-half and in touching distance with the pace-setters atop the table.
Veteran striker Prince Nxumalo bagged the all-important winner which came during the course of the first half – seeing the Romans leave empty handed.
Baroka FC 2-3 Milford Stallions
Milford Stallions opened up a four-point gap at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table after seeing off Baroka FC 3-2 in Lebowakgomo.
The host were buoyant and hit the front in earnest courtesy of a rasping finish from Siyabonga Mthombeni, but Milford rallied back soon thereafter and were ahead at the break.
Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele continued chasing shadows in the second half and got further behind before Tshepho Mashiloane applied a glimmer of hope but no comeback happened.
Venda Football Academy 0-2 Orbit College
Orbit College collected a fourth successive victory and jumped into third spot level on points with second-place JDR Stars courtesy of a 2-0 win over Venda Football Academy.
The result is mixed bag on either end of the spectrum with the host two-match winning run snapped and directed back to the bottom of the table.
Upington City 2-2 Casric Stars
Upington City moved out of the top-three on the table and saw their winless stretched to three matches with a 2-2 draw against Casric Stars.
Bafana Ba Gucci made the ideal start and looked on course for victory as Trevor Mokwena and Willem Nel struck in quick succession to ensure a two-goal lead.
The visitors hit back though and at the end of it all managed to register a point from the clutches of defeat to remain in the top-half placing.
