NFD wage cuts: Steenberg United fail to pay players full salaries

Real Kings, Cape Umoya United, Royal Eagles and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila are amongst the GladAfrica Championship teams alleged to have not paid their players in full at the end of April.

Eagles have a history of outstanding salaries owed to players since January this year, while some Jomo Cosmos players are understood to be in a similar situation.

According to one player who wishes to remain anonymous, Steenberg paid some of the players 50 percent of their salaries.

"It's tough bro. Some of us didn't get our salaries and some only got half of their salaries," the player tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"We are trying to address the situation because some of us have families to support at home."

Efforts to get hold of Steenberg manager Simphiwe Clans to respond to the allegations of non-payment proved futile.

This website has been calling Clans since Sunday and on Monday he claimed to be held up in a meeting but later still failed to pick up our calls.
