There were some interesting NFD catch-up fixtures on Wednesday with the first versus fifth battle at Princess Magogo Stadium taking the prime seat.
Home team Uthongathi took the lead through Pule Mmodi right at the start of the second half but star player Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo netted a 90th-minute equaliser to prevent their opponents from opening up an eight-point lead at the summit.
Incidentally, Ndlondlo was the player at the centre of the drama regarding former coach Erol Akbay, who left TTM after club chairman Lawrence Mulaudzi instructed him to field the player despite an issue between player and coach.
TTM, who have assistant coach Lucky Nelukau at the helm, move up to fourth place on the NFD log with 16 points from 11 matches. Uthongathi are six points ahead of second-placed JDR Stars on 26 points.
Meanwhile, Jomo Cosmos gave themselves a shot in the arm after a 1-0 victory over Royal Eagles that takes them up to ninth. Quentin Debouto got the goal in the 70th minute at Olen Park.
Eagles, who also have a number of off-field problems, remain rooted to the bottom of the table with seven points from 12 matches.
In the third game of the day, the mid-table battle between TS Galaxy and Richards Bay ended 1-1 at Kameelrivier Stadium. Thabo Ralebakeng scored for the visitors in the first half before a quick reply from Galaxy's Tshegofatso Nyama.
Ninth-placed Galaxy have two games in hand on some of the teams above them due to their participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.
