TS Galaxy sign Aubrey Mathibe as goalkeeper coach

Aubrey Mathibe has been appointed the Nedbank Cup champions' goalkeeper coach, the same job title he occupied at Swallows FC.

"It's something that happened this week on Monday," Mathibe tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I don't like comparing teams because they are all the same. To be honest I want to achieve a lot because I think it's a young team with good players.

"But Tim [Sukazi, the club owner] has been always telling me that he would like to work with me one day. So I wasn't expecting it to be so soon. But he's been always admiring me you see."

On what led to him he parting ways with Swallows: "Nothing happened between me and Swallows, they just called me and gave me a letter and then that's it.

"And then I didn't didn't ask questions you see, because I have been in football for a long time. I don't like to ask, if people feel like that there's nothing I can do. But it was a team I loved so much, I didn't expect... but football life is like that.

"I think the goalkeepers here at Galaxy are more experienced, especially captain [Ludwe] Mpakumpaku, and then we have another youngster and one international from Botswana... so I think it's a bunch of good goalkeepers.

"Even Swallows I think they had good goalkeepers especially after they signed [Virgil] Vries, and the young one [Lutho] Mbanjwa, he is a youngster, 21 years. He is a future goalkeeper I think for me. He's got everything, he just needs someone to polish him. At the age of 25 I think we will see something from him.

"For now I'm still new and every decision is made by the coach and he helps me a lot because I'm someone who likes to ask. I like to ask because it's the beginning of my career, it's just two years, three years I have started coaching. So I want to learn more, especially from the coaches and the bosses."
