TS Sporting explain Chawanangwa Kaonga FIFA case compared to Kaizer Chiefs' transfer ban

The GladAfrica Championship club has become the latest victim of the FIFA Ethics Committee.

Abantfu Bemthetho have been ordered to pay Mozambican club CD da Costa do Sol $48 000 for Malawian attacker Chawanangwa Kaonga or risk being banned from active football for up to six months.

Sporting signed the attacker believing his contract with the Mozambican team had expired, something Thobela even alluded to in May last year.

Thobela says it was the very same FIFA that gave them permission to register the player.

"As things stand the matter is still sub judice," Thobela tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I don't know who blew things out of proportion by taking this thing to the media. As things stand now there's nothing that TS Sporting are expected to pay in relation to the player.

"He is still here, he is our player. As far as we know he didn't have a contract. We got his clearance from FIFA. We only saw from the media that we have to pay some money. As far as we know the matter is sub judice.

"Of course we know about the case, we are the first ones to report the matter to FIFA. We will defend ourselves until the last drop of our blood. What I want to emphasise is that there's a difference between Kaizer Chiefs' case and ours.

"You can see in ours the story says, 'Pay the fine, if you don't pay the fine, these are the consequences.' Even in that instance we still say no to the fine."
