Venda FC coach: We were lucky with the third goal

Venda FC head coach Vladislav Heric admits his side benefitted from poor officiating against Casric Stars on Saturday.

Venda benefited from poor officiating in their controversial 3-2 win over Casric Stars in a Motsepe Foundation Championship encounter that was played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on the weekend.

Heric, who has a reputation for saving struggling sides from relegation, feels his side deserved to win that game as they were all over the Mpumalanga province club in the second half.

Venda FC's third goal came from what appeared to be a clear offside after the assistant referee nearest to the ball decided to 'freeze' in a crucial moment.

"Look, we were lucky with the third goal which was a little bit funny, but before that we could have scored maybe four or five goals," Heric tells KickOff.

"So, we dominated in the second half. It's not like we got this goal and won the match out of the blue. We deserved the win we were a better team.

"So I'm happy with the result the boys are now starting to understand. It's been three games, one loss, and two wins for me so far.

"With referees, look, sometimes you get something, and sometimes you get nothing, sometimes it goes against you. It's crazy stuff.

"Sooner or later, the PSL needs to consider VAR at the professional level. They need help these referees, and I believe that will help them a lot."
